Stacking the Shelves & Weekly Recap (19)

A meme hosted by Tynga's Reviews where we share all the books we received during the week.

I haven't done a Stacking the Shelves post for a while. The following is a month's worth of books:

Library:
Amano is one of my favourite artists. This is the first book he's illustrated as well as written!

This has the collected issues 1-20 of Gaiman's The Sandman comic series. The series sounds good, but I didn't expect the book to be such a heavy tome!

Bought:
I've been meaning to read all of Shakespeare's plays, so I bought a copy of his complete works. Plus, I've been watching the anime Blast of Tempest that's based on and has many allusions to Shakespeare's works which made me want to read his plays that much more.

I went to my first book signing and got The Gypsy King (my review) signed by the author! I enjoyed the event and hopefully I'll go to more book signings and launches in the future.

These were both only $5 at Chapters. I really enjoyed the first book, Eyes Like Stars, and thought I might as well get the rest of the books in the series.

Bride of the Water God is one of my favourite manga (although it's actually a manhwa - which is a Korean manga) series. I'm behind on this series as there are already 12 volumes released.

This seems to be a highly recommended book for writers.

Gifted:
I received this for doing a survey on penguin.ca and I'm really excited to start it! The premise sounds really good and I've read many glowing reviews.

Review:
  • Never by K.D. McEntire (Thanks to Pyr)
This is the last book in the Lightbringer series. I still haven't read this series yet. If you've read it, what did you think?

I enjoyed The False Prince (my review) and I'm excited to see what happens next, but plots about runaways have always bored me.

This is a nice edition of The Little Prince which includes the hardcover book and an audiobook (narrated by Viggo Mortensen) in a nice box set. I'm excited to start The Little Prince, which is apparently a classic.

I love the cover, here is the full jacket:

Really excited to start this, sounds so good!!! Plus there are illustrations of dragons throughout the whole book.

I've already finished reading this. The review is scheduled to be up on Thursday.

I still need to read my copy of The Immortal Rules but I can't wait to start this series. I loved Kagawa's The Iron Fey series, plus everyone seems to have loved the The Immortal Rules!

  • Dare You To by Katie McGarry (Thanks Harlequin UK and NetGalley)
I also still need to read Pushing the Limits, but I'm excited to start this series as well. I really need to try more contemporary books.

  • Doll Bones by Holly Black  (Thanks to Random House Children’s Publishers UK and NetGalley
Love the cover for this! It's really the main reason I want to read it.

  48. I feel I've neglected The Runaway King and Breaking Point, two sequels that are definitely on my list of must-reads. It's not that I forgot about them, I swear. But they're two of the most uncertain sequels I'm wanting. WHO KNOWS what kind of heartache and stuff awaits me? I don't know if I can handle it, bro. But I admire you for trying.

*high fives* because we both got The Eternity Cure which means we're both fans and just YAY. I can't wait to start it! And I'm totes hating on you for Dare You To. I'm still waiting for my copy, Harlequin Teen. WHERE IS IT?
