Dark Triumph by R.L. LaFeversApril 2, 2013
Houghton Mifflin Books for Children
Sybella arrives at the convent’s doorstep half mad with grief and despair. Those that serve Death are only too happy to offer her refuge—but at a price. Naturally skilled in both the arts of death and seduction, the convent views Sybella as one of their most dangerous weapons.
But those assassin’s skills are little comfort when the convent returns her to a life that nearly drove her mad. Her father’s rage and brutality are terrifying, and her brother’s love is equally monstrous. And while Sybella is a weapon of justice wrought by the god of Death himself, He must give her a reason to live. When she discovers an unexpected ally imprisoned in the dungeons, will a daughter of Death find something other than vengeance to live for?
This heart-pounding sequel to Grave Mercy serves betrayal, treachery, and danger in equal measure, bringing readers back to fifteenth century Brittany and will keep them on the edge of their seats.
Thoughts: I loved Grave Mercy (my review), it was one of my favourites of 2012. I'm so excited to read Sybella's story next, I hope it's just as enjoyable as Ismae's was. I really like the idea of it being set within the same world but each of the three novels is told from a different handmaiden's point of view. I absolutely just can't wait to read it, that summary sounds so good!!!
I love female assassin stories! I have Grave Mercy on my kindle, but haven't read it yet. Hope you enjoy this one!

ReplyDeleteI loved Grave Mercy, and I always felt while reading that Sybella was left an enigma for a good reason - and now I know that it's because she gets her own book! Can't wait :)
ReplyDeleteMy WoW this week is Fragments by Dan Wells!
I picked this one, too! While I'm a bit sad we won't see another book staring Ismae, I am excited to read about Sybella.
